Hello there. I wanted to say hello as I will be movement directing Gormenghast - an adapted script from the Constable play - at Italia Conti Drama School this Spring/Summer - opening at the Edinburgh Festival. As a movement person, I have also had the good fortune to attend Skinner Releasing Classes run by Florence Peake! Small world it can be.

Mervyn Peake was a genius. He had an ability I have never encountered by any other author; to paint a scene with devastating detail as only an artist could. I hold him in high regard as I do Dickens.
He is both an influence and a depression to me. He is the writer I'd most want to be and the one I know I have not the talent or imagination to be.
It is a sad thing that he never got to know just how greatly he is admired by so many people all over the world, and not simply a cult following; but rather discerning appreciators of true literature.
